Sharon Shuford is currently senior director of events and professional development at BOMA Georgia, where she is responsible for education programming, content, format, speaker and SME recruitment, and logistics management.
Prior to joining BOMA, Shuford held a similar position with the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association. In all, she has over 30 years of professional experience planning and producing meetings, education content, and events in the association, third party and corporate sectors. Past clients have included, among others, Interface Worldwide, BASF Corporation, and Sysco Foods.
Since leading the event logistics team on the Interface Inc. world program in the mid 1990’s, where she participated in some of the earliest, large scale green and sustainable meeting initiatives, Shuford has been bringing best practices to her programs, and to the hospitality industry as a founding board member and past president of Site Southeast and past president of the Atlanta GMIC Chapter. She continually looks for ways to expand her expertise and participated in the first training session on teaching the new APEX ASTM Standards. She has also earned the LEED GA designation.
Shuford is an active member of the Georgia Society of Association Executives. She has been an Atlanta resident since 1976, and lives on a farm with her husband, horse, and dogs.
