Nelson is a senior property manager with Cousins Properties Incorporated. He joined Cousins Properties Incorporated in August 1997 after thirteen years experience of managing and leasing medical office properties. He currently manages the 360,000 square foot Emory University Hospital Midtown Medical Office Tower and the 160,000 square foot Meridian Mark Plaza. Prior to the opening of the Emory University Hospital Midtown Medical Office Tower in January 2002, Nelson managed the 100,000 square foot Northside/Alpharetta I Medical Office Building and the 200,000 square foot Northside/Alpharetta II Medical Office Building, where Northside/Alpharetta I Medical Office Building won BOMA International’s coveted International Office Building of the Year Award, Medical Office Building Category for 2000/2001.
Prior to joining Cousins Properties Incorporated, Nelson managed and leased the 150,000 square foot Northwest Medical Center in Atlanta and managed the 60,000 square foot North Fulton Medical Arts Building in Roswell. He managed and leased over 200,000 square feet of medical office properties for Methodist Evangelical Hospital (now part of the Norton Healthcare System) in Louisville, Kentucky prior to relocating to Atlanta in 1989.
Nelson received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Science degree from The Citadel. He received the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute in 2006 after completing the required course of studies in building operations and real estate management.
Nelson is a member of Building Owners and Managers Association-Georgia and regularly attends meetings of the BOMA Medical Special Interest Group. He is also member of Grace United Methodist Church and has served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee and Board of Trustees.
